From Private Collections Through To Contemporary Art

In this city with its finger very much on the pulse, a young art scene has developed alongside the increasing number of renowned private collections, making Berlin a mecca for contemporary art.
9.00 am Collection from the hotel by an air-conditioned luxury coach with a knowledgeable city guide.

Drive to the Reichstag by coach.
Continue the tour by foot and walk past the Reichstag to Pariser Platz with the Liebermann House and the new building of the Academy of Art.

Back in the coach we then drive past the Federal Chancellor’s Office and the Victory Column and down the Strasse des 17. Juli to the Berggruen Collection, next to Charlottenburg Castle. At Bahnhof Zoo station we stop at the Newton Collection.

10.00 am
Guided tour of the Newton Collection

11.15 am
The journey continues along the Fasanenstrasse, past the Kurfürstendamm and Brusberg Gallery to the Hamburger Bahnhof station.

12.15 pm
Lunch at Sarah Wiener’s in the Hamburger Bahnhof or in Charlottenburg.

1.30 pm
Guided tour of the celebrated Flick Collection in the Rieck Hallen or the Marx Collection in the Hamburger Bahnhof.

3 pm
Continue on to Oranienburger Strasse and visit the Tacheles – a much-discussed and controversial focal point of the art scene.

Walk past the synagogue, through the Heckmann Höfe to Auguststrasse. Now we are in the middle of Berlin’s young art scene.

3.30 pm Stroll around the galeries of Auguststrasse and learn about the history of the Scheunenviertel district.

5 pm
Drive though the Museum Island past the Unter den Linden museums and on to Potsdamer Platz with its Daimler Chrysler Collection in the legendary Haus Huth.

5.30 pm
Good weather affords a view of the whole city from the Kolhoff Building.

6.15 pm
Via Leipziger Strasse to Zimmerstrasse – another district with many galleries.

Approx. 7 pm
Return to the hotel
